Melanie Askin

Melanie is originally from Ellicott City, Maryland and started dancing at a young age under the direction of her role model Diane Hamilton at the Musical Theater Center.

Melanie was a part of a few different performing groups called Upbeat Unlimited and Young Americans of Washington in the DC area. She got to perform on the televised 4th of July Celebration with Barry Bostwick and with Clay Aiken at his winter concert in Baltimore. Summers were spent studying with Broadway Dance Alliance in New York. Melanie graduated cum laude from East Carolina University with a BFA degree in Dance Performance. She became very involved in the dance department and performed all four years in the faculty performances. She study with many guest artists such as David Dorfman, Lane Alexander, Barbara Duffy, Doug Varone and his company and many more. Her favorite summer was spent at Bates Dance Festival in Lewiston, Maine. She studied with some of the best dancers in the world and it changed her life. Post-graduation, Melanie danced professionally with SeaWorld and Parks at Busch Gardens Theme Park in Williamsburg, VA. Melanie is so excited to be a part of AIM family and share her knowledge and passion of dance with us!
